OF THE INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION OF GUITARISTS
IN UKRAINE -2009

By a decision of the Organizing Committee the term of handing in applications and documents for participation in the Competition is prolonged till NOVEMBER 1O, 2009
1. PROCEDURE OF ENROLMENT
1.1. International Competition of Guitarists in Ukraine-2009 (hereinafter – Competition) will take place in Kiev (Ukraine) at the National Philharmonic of Ukraine within the framework of the International Festival of Guitar Music “Kiev-2009” on December 8-13, 2009.
1.2. Guitarists of age no more than 35 years by December 1st of the year of conducting the Competition (2009) are admitted to take part in it.
1.3. Application forms for the participation in the Competition (the form is added) must be obtained until October 15th 2009, and sent to the address:

The date of receipt of application is determined according to the first postmark. The application form can be downloaded at the end of this page (see "Downloads")
The following documents should be sent with the application form and the competition programme of participant:
A) photocopy of the proper pages of passport, which confirm age and citizenship of person;
B) two recent, medium sized pictures (10 cm x 15 cm) on glossy paper, suitable for publication (printed or recorded on CD);
C) Curriculum Vitae with detailed information about musical education, any prizes received at competitions, concert activity, reviews in the press and others like that;
D) Printed music of works that will be performed in first and second rounds.
Documents mentioned in items A), B), and C) can be send by e-mail to the indicated address.
1.4. The documents sent not in full or behind time are not examined.
1.5. On results of consideration of applications Organizing Committee decides the participation of applicant in the Competition.
1.6. All admitted to participation in Competition will get official invitation not later than on November 10th 2009.
1.7. Changes in the programs sent by participants are not allowed.
2. FINANCIAL TERMS
2.1. Every participant of the Competition must pay an enrolment fee for organizing services on conducting the Competition in the size of ˆ 40 (forty Euros). Payment must be done in Ukrainian national currency hryvnya (equivalent at the rate of the National Bank of Ukraine operating on the settlement date). Enrolment fee in cash is to be got until the beginning of the competitive audition. Without payment of enrolment fee participant is not admitted to drawing and listening out.
The enrolment fee can be prepaid by the bank transfer to the account:

The enrolment fee can be also paid by cash to the cash desk of Philharmonic in the hryvnya equivalent. It should be done before December 8 or on December 8 during registration of participants.
2.2. In the case of waiver of candidate to participate in the Competition, the documents are not sent back to him, and the enrolment fee is not refundable.
2.3. Travel expenses, accommodation and board, are covered at participants’ own expense.
3. COMPETITION PROCEDURE
3.1. The Competition will run from 8 to 13 December 2009.
3.2. Registration of participants will take place on 8th December, from 11h to 13.45, in the Lysenko Concert Hall of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine (Kiev, Volodymyrsky uzviz, 2).
- The draw for the order of play and presentation of the Jury will be held at 14 h.
At registration, every participant of the Competition must show his/her passport.
3.3. Known Ukrainian and foreign guitar teachers and performers are invited to be members of the Jury. The Jury operates according to the “Regulations on the Jury” approved by the Organizing Committee.
3.4. The competitive program consists of three rounds: first – selection, second – semi final, and third – final. All auditions will be open to the public.
The order of appearances of participants is determined by draw for the order of play before the first round and will be kept until the end of the Competition.
3.5. No more than 10 participants will be admitted to the second round.
3.6. Evaluation of participants in all rounds will be done by secret vote.
3.7. No more than 5 participants will be admitted to the third round.
The final evaluation of the finalists will be done by secret vote at the final meeting of jury.
3.8. Decisions of the Jury are definitive and are not subject to revision at all stages of the Competition. All participants of the Competition must accept without appeal the decisions of the International Jury on the evaluation of performances in all three rounds.
3.9. The Organizing Committee reserves to itself the right of Radio and Television broadcasting of the competitive auditions and final concert and audio- and videotape recording.
3.10. The laureates of Competition will appear in the Final Concert of the International Festival of Guitar Music “Kiev-2009”, which will take place on December 13th, 2009 in the Lysenko Concert Hall of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine. Beginning of the concert will be at 19 o'clock.
3.11. Competition and concert performance of the winners take place in the Lysenko Concert Hall of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine.
3.12. The third round of the competition is conducted with the participation of the Academic Symphonic Orchestra of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine.
4. AWARD OF WINNERS
4.1. The Jury of the Competition determines winners:
- A Diploma of Laureate for the first place (Diploma of First Degree) –
ˆ 2000 (two thousands Euros);
- A Diploma of Laureate for the second place (Diploma of Second Degree) -
ˆ 1500 (one thousand five hundred Euros);
- A Diploma of Laureate for the third place (Diploma of Third Degree) –
ˆ 1000 (one thousand Euros).
Fees are paid in the hryvnya equivalent at the rate of the National Bank of Ukraine operating on the settlement date. The indicated sum of fee is subject of taxation according to the Legislation of Ukraine currently in force.
Finalists who were not awarded with ranks of laureate (no more than two) get a Honorary Diploma of the Competition.
4.2. The Jury has the right to award not all prize places. Places between the participants of competition cannot be shared.
4.3. The Organizing Committee and Jury of Competition reserve to themselves the right to establish Special Prizes and Prizes to the participants of Competition.
4.4. Public, charitable, musical, and international organizations, as well as sponsors of the Competition, and also separate prominent cultural personalities can establish, at their own expense, special prizes and prizes to the participants of Competition. It is necessarily to co-ordinate awarding of such prizes with the Jury of Competition.
4.5. The Laureates of the Competition are given the possibility for appearance with a Recital in Subscription 8 „The Magic Guitar” of the Lysenko Concert Hall of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine under a separate agreement.
4.6. In the case of any disagreement at interpretation of these Terms of Competition, the only valid text will be the original in the Ukrainian language.
5. COPYRIGHTS
All rounds and the final concert of Competition will be recorded. Participants of Competition during its conducting and in future must give up any rights which they can have as artists, musicians, and/or any other rights in relation to distribution of records and/or audio-, video-tapes, and also in relation to the use of radio and television and/or telematics network (Internet) for the broadcasting of rounds of Competition and/or the final concert. The participants of Competition must admit that any rights to the material specified above, belongs to the organizers of Competition exceptionally, which can use it in non-commercial purposes.
